Gemstones are used in a variety of ways for healing and energy balancing. Their subtle vibrations are felt by some more than others. As we cultivate greater sensitivity on an energetic level we may more readily note their effects. You may focus your intention with gemstones, for addressing particular issues in your life. The color, shape, size, clarity, and method employed, can all affect the efficacy in gemstone therapies.
Throughout history, gemstones have been a powerful tool for channeling the life force energy of the Earth. As concentrated matter with highly refined, elemental properties, gemstones are easy to use and have many useful applications for personal transformation. Each stone has certain properties that make it suitable for different issues.

A favorite way to incorporate gemstones or crystals into your life is to have your
astrological birthchart calculated
and choose jewelry pieces that include the gemstones that correspond to your planetary positions. You may choose a ring, pendant, multi-stone necklace, bracelet, etc. Precious or semi-precious stones are preferable. Yet, even lesser quality stones can be hypnotic in their own right and lessen worries of ownership.
When using gemstones for jewelry, for example, someone with Sun in Aquarius, Moon in Capricorn,
Mercury in Pisces, Venus in Aries, Mars in Scorpio and Scorpio Rising, might choose to custom make a piece with all of these corresponding stones. Amethyst for Aquarius, Diamond for Capricorn, Pink Tourmaline for Pisces, etc., selecting each for its planetary rulership. This combination would offer their astral signature in gemstones. Wearing this piece or keeping it close, can not only be a strong meditation tool, but can help to stablize one's vibrational energies.
Another possibility would be to select a planet's stone for it's corresponding quality of being. If you would like more courage, choose your Sun's sign's stone or use the stone for the Sun itself. To soothe your emotions, you could select your Moon's sign stone or the stone for the Moon, itself.
Using stones in meditation is another positive use for gem therapy. Placing the stone directly on the part of the body or holding it while meditating and concentrating on the desired results help to focus healing energy in the area you prefer. Some healing practictioners rest these crystals and gemstones on different parts of the body while performing energy or body work.
FENG SHUI is another discipline which uses gems and crystals to activate positive results in someone's world, whether home, office, site, or particular room. By
selecting stones associated with a specific color and
therefore a specific function, Feng Shui practioners consider these most auspicious. Using stones, which represent the Earth element, you can ground the energies of the Earth corners of a property or room to stablize the Chi, which in turns assists in areas of relationships, personal development, creativity, helpful people, and inner stability, as well as financial prosperity.
They may be used, though, in any location, if the corresponding stone for that area is used. Because every room should have all five elements represented, bringing Earth-related stones is helpful in each area. For example, in the Fame corner of your room, place red stones, such as ruby and garnet, is said to help promote your social position. In the Love corner, placing pink stones, such as tourmaline or pink quartz, can attract harmonious love relationships into your life.
